ConferenceThe organisers: The Global Campaign for Agrarian Reform is a joint initiative of the international peasants movement La Vía Campesina, the international human rights organization FIAN, and the Land & Research and Action Network LRAN. The conference: The main objectives of the conference are: Discuss and analyse the state of land rights, particularly of women, access to common pool resources, and land and agrarian reform programmes particularly in Africa. Learn about the different strategies used by land rights activists to resist the loss of lands and other crucial natural resources (e.g., water and forests). Network in order to promote progressive, people-centred and human rights and food sovereignty based land and agrarian reform approaches in Africa and internationally. Discuss the necessity of fighting together for the removal of the most important constraints for food sovereignty policies and for the enforcement of the right to food, particularly, the increasing power of food related transnationals. This conference is also co-hosted by ActionAid.
